Jimmy Edgar is a north american artist that I like a lot, he is mostly known as an electronic musician, however he is also a creative director and a pictorial artist.
Edgar developed an early interest in music and learned to play various instruments before he started experimenting with electronic music by age 10. He signed with a label at age 18, releasing his first solo album "Color Strip" (2006). In 2013 Jimmy started his own music label; ULTRAMAJIC RECORDS, founded with the argentinian designer Pilar Zeta, together they created a label with a unique abstract design-inspired and forms-oriented aesthetic on the album covers of the label.

I got to know his work because spotify recommended me a playlist with all Ultramajic discography, and I ended up liking him a lot because of the whole artistical concept that he embodies. To begin, he mixes electro house with R&B, funk, and the genre glitch like no one else, furthermore, the sound mixed with the unique aesthetic of the album covers created by him and Pilar Zeta creates a unique experience within inmersive atmospheres of introspective and fullfilling non-stop colorful fantasies.

Also, he wont limit himself with one artistic world of possibilities, he is constantly changing looks and trying new things.
wow I liked your post. I also listen to some electronic music but I didn't know this artist. Maybe it's my ignorance, but I find his aesthetics are similar to Vaporwave aesthetic.
ResponderEliminarThank you Lia. He is not that known in electronic music, it's a little bit niche, however he has a song with the hyperpop trans artist SOPHIE that died recently. And yes, indeed, there's a common point within the dreamy, idealistic and forms-oriented aspect of ULTRAMAJIC aesthetic with vaporwave aesthetic and imagery
